Real-Time Collaboration
Work together on markups with live cursors, presence indicators, and instant sync.
Sitemarks lets your entire team review and annotate markups at the same time. Every change — new annotations, comments, cursor movements, and status updates — is broadcast instantly to all participants, so no one has to refresh the page to see what others are doing.
How It Works
When you open a markup, your view stays synchronized with your teammates instantly. Only organization members with access to the markup can join.
Live Cursors
As teammates move their cursors over the markup, you will see their position in real time. Each cursor is labeled with the user's name, making it easy to follow along during a review session or screen-share call.
Presence Indicators
The toolbar displays avatar badges for every team member currently viewing the same markup. When someone joins, their avatar appears; when they navigate away or close the tab, it disappears. This presence list updates automatically — there is nothing to configure.
Seamless presence
Presence is fully synchronized. All teammates see each other's avatars and cursors without delay, regardless of how they connect.
Simultaneous Annotations and Comments
Multiple people can create annotations and post comments on the same markup simultaneously. When one user drops a pin or draws a region, other participants see the new annotation appear immediately. The same applies to comments and replies — they stream in as they are posted, with no polling or manual refresh required.
Typing indicators show when a teammate is composing a comment on a specific annotation, helping you avoid duplicate feedback and stay aware of ongoing conversations.
What Gets Synced in Real Time
| Event | What happens | |---|---| | Cursor movement | Other users see your cursor position and name label | | Annotation created | New pin or region appears on all connected clients | | Annotation updated | Position or status changes propagate instantly | | Comment posted | New comment appears in the annotation thread | | Comment edited | Updated text replaces the previous version | | User joined/left | Presence avatars update in the toolbar | | Typing indicator | "User is typing..." shown on the relevant annotation |
Offline Resilience
If your connection drops — due to a network hiccup, laptop sleep, or switching Wi-Fi — Sitemarks will automatically attempt to reconnect. Once the connection is restored, you will automatically rejoin and receive the latest state. Any annotations or comments you created while connected are saved immediately, so there is no risk of data loss during brief disconnections.
Best experience on modern browsers
For the best experience, use a current version of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge.
Who Can Collaborate
Any organization member with access to the markup's project can participate in a real-time session. Access is enforced automatically — Sitemarks verifies your organization membership before allowing you to join. Viewers can observe cursors and presence but cannot create annotations. Members, admins, and owners have full annotation and commenting capabilities based on their role.
